JOHANNESBURG – Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) Tito Mboweni's finance minister's comments on e-tolls were ridiculous, as hundreds of members are planning to run the protest system in Pretoria on Friday morning.
The trade union alliance hoped to hand over a memorandum to President Cyril Ramaphosa, reiterating his call for electronic tolls to be fired.
Last week, Mbowen called on motorists to pay their e-tolls, saying "nothing is free".

According to Cosatu Dumisani Dakile, South Africans pay a fair amount of tax, some of which could be used to pay for the e-motorway debt.
– As a matter of fact, gas taxes are taxed by our people for every liter they pay.
Cosatu has opposed the user payment system for years, but the latest message from Mbowen in the union has angered many people.
Your position on the controversial regime comes only a few months before the country votes for a new government at national and provincial level.
The ANC acknowledged in Gauteng that unhappiness in e-premiums could mean more votes in the previous provincial elections for the party.
